Technical Session 3.4 - Sustainable Road Mobility and global challenges (environment, biodiversity, energy transition, climate change, decarbonation and resilience)
Thursday, October 5

18:00
Chair: Éric DIMNET, General Commission for Sustainable Development
(GCSD), Ministry of Ecological Transition and Cohesion of Territories, France,
PIARC TC 3.4 Chair
Room: South Hall 1, 1st floor
This session was based on the work carried out by the experts of the Sustainability Technical Committee (TC 3.4) during the 2020-2023 cycle. The Committee's experts dealt with the TOR themes from the Strategic Plan, striving to be open to global issues and to other actors outside the Committee.
This openness was reflected in the organisation of a number of international conferences, seminars and workshops, which provided an opportunity for high-quality exchanges. These dialogues have enabled the themes arising from the TOR to be included in the global issue of sustainable development, which includes decarbonisation, environmental pollution, the impact on biodiversity, the energy transition and resilience.
This session recalled the international events organised or co-organised by the TC 3.4 "Environmental Sustainability in Road Infrastructure and Transport" and presented the deliverables produced by the Committee during the 2020-2023 cycle.
After the break, the session gave the floor to international experts on aspects of sustainable mobility in relation to the major challenges of sustainable development.
